Arrive at Hosea Kutako International Airport where you will be met by your transfer service. Depart on the 45 km transfer to the capital Windhoek and Eros Airport. Shortly afterwards, depart by private charter flight in a southerly direction to the NamibRand Nature Reserve on the edge of the famous “living” Namib Desert.

Arrive in Wolwedans, where you can enjoy the incredible landscapes that surround you and the serenity and tranquillity of this magical desert location.

The Namib is one of the oldest deserts in the world, maybe even the oldest ever. It was already dry at least 80 million years ago. In the south, it stretches across the Orange River to South Africa, while in the north it reaches across the Kunene River to Angola. Most of the Namib lies within Namibia, where it occupies about 1500 km of the Atlantic coast. Its width generally varies between 80 and 140 km, but in places it extends up to 200 km inland.

Optional excursion: Wake up and drive to the famous Sossusvlei Dunes before sunrise. See the sun rise over this majestic sandy terrain, driving away the shadows and creating a rainbow of colours on the sloping dune walls. At the foot of the vlei, enjoy a hearty breakfast before the energetic can climb the infamous Big Daddy dune or venture on a relatively easy 1.1km hike to Dead Vlei – well worth the effort!

Sossusvlei is a dune wonderland, with dunes up to 300m high surrounding a huge dried-up pan. The dunes stretch as far as the eye can see and their rich hues vary from pale apricot to bright reds and oranges. During a good rainy season, the Tsauchab River flows into the pan, creating a haven for waterbirds. Even in the dry season, oryx, springbok and ostrich can be seen feeding on the sparse vegetation along the watercourse.

Wake up and enjoy a leisurely breakfast before flying to Swakopmund by private charter. On arrival, enjoy the cooler coastal air, the historic culture of this beautiful town and the charming ambience of the Swakopmund Sands Hotel.

Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure – relax in the hotel’s cosy courtyard garden, stroll through the shops and enjoy a coffee in one of the many small cafés or restaurants, or walk along the beach promenade and visit the famous Swakopmund jetty.

We recommend that you take the short drive along the picturesque coastal road, between the sea and the dune landscape, to Walvis Bay for an exciting (optional) boat cruise.

Walvis Bay is Namibia’s main harbour town and is increasingly becoming a desirable place for a seaside holiday. The main attraction is the lagoon with its rich bird life; a total of about 80 000 wading birds can be seen, including flamingos and the rare white pelicans. A former enclave belonging to South Africa, Walvis Bay and the offshore islands were incorporated into the Republic of Namibia on 1 March 1994. The town has a well-developed and efficient harbour, while the fishing port is the centre of Namibia’s fast-growing fishing industry.

A 3-hour boat cruise in the Walvis Bay lagoon will sweep you to another world. Pelicans and flamingos can be spotted and dolphins and seals regularly swim alongside the boat, with the possibility of one or two seals jumping into the boat to be fed. Snacks, oysters and champagne are served during the cruise.

Around midday you return for an optional short city tour of Swakopmund. The rest of the day is then at your leisure – many optional (own expense) activities are offered in and around the town.

Swakopmund is very popular as a welcome respite from the heat of the interior and is loved for its charm and old world atmosphere. The town was founded in 1892 during German colonial rule and served as the main port of the territory for many years. The distinct German colonial character has been well preserved and many of the old buildings now serve a useful purpose: Woermann House (1905) now houses an art gallery. The Woermann Tower used to be used to see if ships were entering the harbour. Other old interesting buildings are: “The Old Barracks”, “Hohenzollern House” and the railway station building.

Re-board your private charter and travel on to northern Namibia with its diverse, fascinating landscapes. Today’s flight allows you to see the distant Spitzkoppe and the majestic Brandberg Mountains on your way to Damaraland.

Arrive at the beautiful Mowani Mountain Camp, nestled between huge granite boulders, offering comfort, spectacular views and a truly exceptional experience in the Namibian wilderness.

Visits to Twyfelfontein, with its wealth of ancient rock engravings and the wonders of the organ pipes and petrified forest, are within easy reach of Mowani.

Today you fly on to see large parts of the vast and famous Etosha National Park from the air before landing at the private airstrip. From here you will drive by road to the magical Onguma Bush Camp and check into this luxurious lodge.

Nearly one hundred and seven large game species roam this Namibian nature reserve, making Onguma the ideal place for a safari holiday.

Here you are always surrounded by views of nature as you explore the warm soul of the African bush from the supreme comfort of your sumptuous accommodation and take part in optional early morning Etosha safari drives, bird watching safaris and game drives at sunset or after dark.

Today we recommend that you join a game drive offered by the lodge into Etosha National Park (optional, own expense).

The Etosha National Park, consisting of 22 270 sq km of salt desert, savannah and forest, is one of the largest parks in Africa. Its defining feature is the Etosha Pan, a huge, shallow depression of about 5000 sq km. For most of the year, the pan is a barren expanse of white, cracked mud that shimmers with mirage on most days. It is the sight of huge herds of game with this eerie “great white place of dry water” as a backdrop that makes the Etosha experience unique. In total, there are about 114 species of mammals in the park, including some rare and endangered animals such as the black rhino and the black-faced impala. Many bird species are also found in the park.

As your magical luxury fly-in safari draws to an end, board the private charter for the last time for the return flight to Windhoek. Upon arrival at Eros Airport, there is a short road transfer to the elegant Heinitzburg Hotel overlooking the city.

The population of Windhoek is only 300,000 people, which nevertheless makes Windhoek the largest city in the country. Most of Windhoek’s population lives in Katutura, the city’s Bantu-speaking suburb. Katutura is an Oshiwambo word meaning “the place we don’t want to stay”. Along “Independence Avenue”, the former “Emperor’s Road”, you can see the old colonial houses right next to the buildings of modern, post-independent Namibia.
